cross-border parcel shipping complications

The single-carrier international shipping gap

International parcel delivery has more failure points than domestic. Every shipment passes through aggregation, consolidation, customs clearance, airline uplift, and final mile delivery before it reaches your customer.

With a single carrier, a disruption at any one of those stages means your parcel stops moving and you have no alternative.

ePost Global operates as a consolidator, combining the volume of thousands of merchants to unlock deeper postal discounts and secure block space agreements with airlines that guarantee cargo capacity. Your parcels are processed and out the door in 24 hours or less.

Eight tiers, one partner

International parcel shipping options for every speed, budget, and destination

What makes ePost Global different?

ePost Global moved 23.3 million items internationally in 2025 across a 100+ carrier network. That volume generates the performance data, carrier relationships, and routing intelligence that smaller providers and single-carrier solutions can't match. We design custom routing by lane rather than routing through a fixed product catalog and we adjust as your volume, destinations, and compliance needs change.

Consolidation economics that lower your per-parcel cost

As one of the largest international parcel consolidators in the US, we combine merchant volume to maximize density per bag and container, unlocking postal discounts we pass directly to you. Sort-to-Light technology processes parcels in 24 hours or less, and block space agreements guarantee cargo capacity on every major lane.

Multi-carrier routing that adapts in real time

When disruptions hit, our network reroutes automatically. During the August 2025 trade disruption, rerouted volume scaled from 300 to 6,000–8,000 parcels per month and held. Brands on our network kept shipping. Brands locked into single carriers did not.

DDP pre-clearance that protects your conversion rate

Our DDP service eliminates surprise fees at checkout. DDP shipments achieve 95–99% on-time delivery. In the worst-performing DDU lanes, that drops to 3–40%. Brands using our DDP service see 25–40% higher international conversion because customers know the full cost before they buy.

Expert-led customs compliance

Automated HS code assignment breaks down on electronics, luxury goods, and food. Our team provides manual verification, commodity approvals coordination, and customs compliance consulting so parcels clear cleanly instead of getting flagged or delayed.

Customized returns management

Cross-border returns are now a purchase driver, especially in apparel and footwear. We configure returns by country with local drop-off, regional consolidation, or in-country processing options.

One partner for international and domestic

Our Domestic eDGE service extends the same multi-carrier routing logic to US parcels with 2–5 day delivery. Consolidate vendors without consolidating risk.

the stakes

International shipping margins don't disappear at checkout

International parcel shipping looks simple on a rate card.

The real cost shows up after you commit. One underperforming carrier and no fallback means you absorb the failures and the lost repeat purchases. Wrong customs documentation means your customers blame your brand, not customs.

The brands winning internationally work with partners who have the volume to drive postal discounts, the carrier network to absorb disruptions, and the operational speed to move parcels in hours. Across 23.3 million shipments, the gap between resilient networks and single-carrier dependency isn't incremental. It's the difference between 99% on-time delivery and 3%.

Frequently asked questions about cross-border parcel shipping

What is cross-border parcel shipping?
Cross-border parcel shipping is the process of sending packages from one country to another, including customs clearance, duties and taxes management, and final mile delivery to the recipient. ePost Global manages this entire process through a multi-carrier network covering 200+ countries and territories.
What is the difference between DDP and DDU for international parcels?
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) means duties and taxes are paid by the shipper before the parcel arrives, so the recipient pays nothing at delivery. DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) means the recipient is responsible for any duties or taxes upon delivery. DDP eliminates surprise fees that cause delivery refusals and cart abandonment. Our data shows DDP achieves 95-99% on-time rates compared to as low as 3% for DDU in some markets.
How long does international parcel delivery take?
Transit times vary by service and destination. Our express option delivers in 3-5 business days. Standard tracked services range from 4-10 business days depending on the destination. Economy options typically deliver in 3-10 business days. Canada and Western Europe are the fastest lanes for most service tiers.
What size and weight limits apply to international parcels?
Our products cover a range from lightweight packets (up to 4.4 lbs) to heavier parcels (up to 66-70 lbs depending on service and destination). Our Priority Parcel with Delivery Confirmation supports the largest shipments at up to 66 lbs and 39" length. Your account team can advise on the best fit for your typical parcel profile.
Do you provide tracking on international shipments?
Yes. Five of our seven products include door-to-door tracking. Our two economy products provide in-country tracking after the parcel arrives in the destination country. Tracking is available through PPX and USPS portals depending on the product.
Can you help with customs compliance for complex product categories?
Yes. We provide expert-led HS code classification, commodity approvals coordination, and personalized customs consulting. This is especially important for electronics (lithium battery restrictions, dual-use regulations), food and beverage (EU import bans on animal products), and luxury goods (material composition documentation, import permits). Automated HS code systems frequently misclassify these categories, causing customs delays and rejections.
Do you offer international returns management?
Yes. Our returns management program is available across all products. We configure returns by market with options for local consolidation, regional hubs, or in-country processing. Returns are increasingly a purchase driver for international customers, and our Q4 data shows return rates spike to 6.1% in November (double the 3.2% annual average), making returns infrastructure essential during peak season.
How is ePost Global different from shipping directly with FedEx, DHL, or UPS?
Single carriers lock you into one network with no flexibility when disruptions occur. ePost Global is one of the largest international parcel consolidators in the United States, operating a multi-carrier network of 100+ providers across the globe. We combine merchant volume for deeper postal discounts, process parcels in 24 hours or less, and reroute automatically when a carrier underperforms or a trade disruption hits a lane. Our top carrier handles only 17.3% of volume (vs. 60-90% industry typical), which eliminates single-point-of-failure risk. We also provide growth advisory, dedicated account support, and personalized expansion guidance that large single carriers do not offer at the same level.
