A recent Newsweek article by Suzanne Blake discusses the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) proposed changes to mail delivery hours, which aim to enhance efficiency and reliability. Under the new proposal, individuals residing 50 miles outside a USPS regional processing center could experience adjusted mail collection times. While the changes may lead to more predictable services, some consumers could experience longer delivery times.

“These changes are intended to enhance service reliability and efficiency potentially, but the mailer will know that up front. This will cause some unhappy consumers who may be used to faster delivery times and will take time to get used to the changes.”
The change will allow USPS to streamline drivers’ deliveries and potentially save USPS between $2.8 billion and $3.3 billion yearly.
