Meet Erik Fernandez, Operations Manager at ePost Global

Erik is a shining example of our core value, “commitment to operational excellence” Born and raised in Carson, CA, Erik manages the day-to-day operations at our LAX facility, ensuring everything runs smoothly across multiple departments.
When he’s not optimizing logistics, you can find Erik spending time with family, enjoying BBQs, or cheering on the LA Dodgers and New England Patriots. With over 24 years in the logistics industry, Erik brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the ePost Global team.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I was born and raised in Carson, CA, and I come from a pretty large family as the youngest of seven siblings. I enjoy spending weekends with family and friends, whether we’re cooking BBQ, relaxing at the beach, or fishing. I also like to play sports and am a big fan of the LA Dodgers and the New England Patriots.
As the Operations Manager of our LAX facility, it is my responsibility to oversee the day-to-day operation for both morning and afternoon shifts. These shifts include multiple departments such as the export department, automation, and mail prep areas. I work closely with my teams to ensure that operations run smoothly. We implement processes intending to increase efficiency, this lets us give our customers the best possible service and overall experience using ePost.

What were your first steps to get into the industry?

I started in the industry as the Warehouse Supervisor for the Swiss Post international ETOE LAX office in Dec 2000. I worked for the company for 5 years before we merged with Priority Post in 2005, I then became the Operations Manager of their Los Angeles location. Sadly, the company closed its Los Angeles office and moved operations back East to Pennsylvania, in December of 2005.

I spent 3 months out of the industry but returned in February of 2006, working for Express Postal Options, with Express Postal Options I’ve experienced 2 different companies starting with RRD and then ePost. I’m glad to say that I’ve been with the company for 18 years and 24 years in the logistics industry overall.

What is one thing that sets ePost apart from its competitors?

I think that the one thing that sets us apart from our competitors is our commitment to the customer and their needs. ePost Global is always looking for new, innovative ways to bring the best service to our customers. We have a great team that works hand in hand with our customers to help them work through any shipping challenges they may have and find the solution that fits best for them.

What are you most proud of working at ePost?

There are several things that I am proud of working at ePost. I think the one that stands out most is seeing my team grow within the company. We take pride in training and mentoring our team, and promoting from within our different departments is very important to me. Being able to see our team members succeed in another area of the company and contribute to our overall
success is definitely a proud moment.

What has been one of your best days at work so far?

I’m glad to say that I have had many days at work that are worth mentioning. However, I would have to say that for me it was the day that I returned to work after a 4 month-long absence due to an illness. Coming back into the office that first day back and seeing my team and colleagues with smiles on their faces and knowing that they were there to support me felt awesome. It reminded me how important it is to have a great group of people around you that are like family.

What was the moment you knew you’d made the right decision to work here?

I knew the moment I met the team all those years ago. I have always felt welcomed and valued by my colleagues and supported by the leadership team. Just knowing that the team values my opinion and that my voice is heard is important to me. I see that my hard work and effort are recognized and appreciated by the leadership team, and that my growth within the organization
is important. All of that made it easy to see that I made the right decision.
